The viral video of the accident, which sparked comments of all kinds on social networks, was captured near the island of Spitsbergen, in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard.
They barely lived to tell about it. Adventurer Michael Horne and a partner of his were climbing an iceberg they found during an exploration in the Arctic when it suddenly capsized and almost crushed them. The scene, which went viral on social networks and sparked all kinds of reactions, was captured near the island of Spitsbergen, in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard.
The video, recorded by his team that was in a small boat a few meters away, recorded the moment in which both adventurers began to scale the iceberg. From one moment to the next, the islet began to rotate on itself. Both Horne and his partner realized the fact and jumped into the water, narrowly avoiding being crushed by the colossal block of ice.
The men ended up falling into the icy waters, but were rescued immediately and the experience was nothing but a great scare.
Horne himself, who is also a YouTuber, admitted that climbing the iceberg was a bad idea. He also assured that, since he has already suffered several accidents on previous occasions, his team always tries to make the right decisions.
“Icebergs are not dangerous, but the man who climbs the iceberg is because he made a bad decision,” said the adventurer.
Watch the video in which he summarizes the whole experience below:
⚠️ Mike Horn no esperaba que se le girara el iceberg cuando intentaban escalarlo. Los dos escaladores evitan por poco ser aplastados por el bloque. 🙈
