The boat lost control before it ran aground, and fortunately there were no injuries in the incident.
A ferry crashed into the rocks on Sunday in the port of the Tremiti islands in the Apulia region of Italy, after its captain lost control probably due to technical problems.
The incident occurred around noon, when the captain of a Tirrenia company ship with seven passengers on board had trouble maneuvering the ship and collided with a rock cliff in the port of the island of San Nicola, in the Adriatic sea. In the images you can see the front of the boat stranded on the rocks.
The emergency services rushed to the scene, while divers were immersed in water to verify the extent of the damage he had suffered the boat. A few minutes later, the ferry was brought to the dock for technical investigations. The event did not leave anyone injured.
Tourism businessman Marco Napolitano said that “he hopes it is not serious,” and he hopes that the ship will be operational in a week to bring the first tourists to the island. Italy begins to gradually reactivate certain economic activities after several weeks of confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic.
