Iran confirmed reports of a meeting between its Army and the United States Navy last Wednesday in the Persian Gulf.

The Government of Iran confirmed this Sunday that its Army had a recent confrontation with the United States Navy in the Persian Gulf, in a statement published this Sunday on the website of the Revolutionary Guard.

The Revolutionary Guard of the Islamic Republic (IRGC) noted that the United States’ report on this encounter was a “Hollywood tale,” and indicated that it issued a warning to US ships to obey international law and maritime protocols when navigating the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

“We have been observing unprofessional behaviour by United States Navy terrorists in the Persian Gulf in recent weeks that pose a serious threat to peace and security in the region,” the IRGC statement said.

They denounce dangerous movements of the US Navy

The Iranian naval institution assured that a vessel belonging to the American “terrorists” showed highly dangerous behaviour, ignoring the initial warnings and blocking the passage to the Shahid Siyavoshi ship, belonging to the Revolutionary Guard, while it was located southeast of the Farsi Island at 11:00 at night on April 6.

Faced with these perceived threats from the Iranian side, the Islamic Republic announced an increase in its security measures in the area and added that “they consider the dangerous actions of foreigners in the region as a threat to national security”, so “any calculation error on your part will receive a decisive response”.

On April 15, the United States Navy noted that 11 ships belonging to the Iranian Army had made “dangerous and hostile approaches” towards US positions in the Persian Gulf, according to the Central Command of the US Naval Forces.
