Mayors of Italian cities spent much of the past week berating residents for failing to obey containment orders as the pandemic rages on and kills thousands of people across the country.

Italy has been in quarantine since March 13, but despite everything, cases of coronavirus continue to spread rapidly across the country.

Some Italians do not seem to have understood the rule: people roam the city, gather in parks to have fun and walk their dogs.

The mayor of the city of Bari, Antonio Decaro, decided to take matters into his own hands and went out into public places himself in order to put down stubborn people.

A strong gesture that goes around social media.

“Go home, you can’t play ping pong!” You are not allowed to be here, go play at home with your video game consoles ”, we can hear it said on the Reuters images.

Several Italian mayors did the same and used social media to share their message.
