The drug trafficking specialist, former advisor to the Ministry of National Security and author “Cocaine Laboratories in the city of Buenos Aires” spoke with Urban News.

“Silver or lead” is a phrase that the drug traffickers repeated so much, in the same way they carried it out: paying bribes or killing people. Because the business is a millionaire and never ends. The Mexican boss Joaquín “Chapo” Guzmán described with a metallic scaling how well he did in his activity. “I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anyone else in the world. I have a fleet of submarines, airplanes, trucks and ships, ”he said in his glory years, before being arrested.

Jorge Rodríguez is an expert on drug trafficking and security issues that travelled throughout Latin America. Especially for Mexico, Peru and Colombia. In Argentina he was an advisor to the Ministry of National Security at the time of Nilda Garré and wrote the book “Cocaine Laboratories in the city of Buenos Aires.” The book consists of 235 reports detailing the penetration of drug trafficking in the City and its relationship with the Federal Police.

In a report with Urban News, it bluntly blurs the claim that drug trafficking receded in Argentina. “Drug trafficking doubled,” he said, and the phrase sounded like bullet lead. And in addition, he said alarmingly: “The wave of crimes that is currently being lived in Rosario is superior to that of Ciudad Juárez”

What do you think of what the previous government was saying that drug trafficking had receded in Argentina?

In all districts of the country, drug trafficking at least doubled in those four years. In cities of the interior and even in the most remote villages, as well as in intendancies by officials who swear to be Peronists, such as Avellaneda. In this case there are dozens of traffickers in front of the administration, around the judicial center or selling meters from the five police stations, as I published at the time. The funny mayor Jorge Ferraressi told the media that drug trafficking was not his responsibility.

How is the situation in the City of Buenos Aires?

In Capital we had those same increases, in any neighborhood at least the narco activity doubled, protected by police chiefs, by members of Justice and of course by politicians. Likewise, the production of cocaine and other narcotics was increased, an issue that the entire political class and the “specialists” deny to a great extent, mostly due to the financing they receive from drug traffickers. The absolute ignorance of the Minister of National Security, Sabina Frederic – in drug trafficking and security – or having put the inventor of the gendarmes caranchos, and serial trader of the crime scenes in the province, are fully functional to the narco increase. The impunity of the Peruvian narco cave that exists in Tilcara 2806, which I detailed in my letter sent to the authorities a few days ago,

How do you see the situation in Rosario and the wave of crimes in that city?

Rosario experienced 14 murders in 13 days, a rate that exceeds the crimes of Ciudad Juárez, Sinaloa, Sao Paolo or Rio de Janeiro. And with the Delegation of Federal Police and the dozens of police stations in Santa Fe, suspected of their links with the traffickers (and obviously with the politicians of the province in the middle). The solution that you ask me, is to write a whole book, but necessarily goes through decriminalizing drugs, as was done in Portugal in 2011: crimes against people and property decrease every year, and drug traffickers are suffocated since they cannot compete with the lower prices of a market regulated by the State. The addict receives narcotics and non-poisons like the “paco” and has a sanitary support system,

Does Argentina have narco vehicles with Peru, Colombia, Bolivia and Mexico?

Our internal cocaine consumption market is supplied with national production and basically with income from cocaine produced in Bolivia. The productions of Colombia, Peru and Bolivia exported to Europe and Asia, travel through the liberated Amazon basin – seven countries – and by routes, destined to Brazil, from their ports then go to Africa and reach Europe, essentially Spain .

In that context, how do you analyze the Mexican situation?

The North American market with its more than one hundred million addicts is supplied from Mexico, as I published in detail. Colombian cocaine and, to a lesser extent, Peruvian cocaine, is sent to the US by more than 150 Mexican cartels, mostly by the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco Nueva Generación, the adopted son of the DEA. In Mexico, cannabis, heroin, meta amphetamine, MDMA -extasis- among other substances are produced. And of course, the DEA has been dedicated to regulating sales and narcotic productions for many years, and dipping bread in narco soup.

"In The Last Four Years, Drug Trafficking Doubled" Says Drug Trafficking Expert Jorge Rodríguez

Against this background, how do you see the future of business and the fight against drug trafficking in Argentina?

As I described to Minister Frederic in my letter, to continue with this class of officials, with the political, judicial and police protection of drug traffickers, making a very conservative projection in mathematical terms, allows us to see that in the next four years we will have a Drug trafficking increase not less than 50% of current terms. As I have argued for years, in the drug trafficking equation the most dangerous are not the drug traffickers, but the politicians, police chiefs, judges and prosecutors who protect them.
