This hole measures 22 meters in diameter and is located near the Monticello dam, 93 meters high. Located in Napa, California, Lake Berryessa is the seventh largest artificial lake in the world.

It is a fact that various parts of the world are suffering from a water shortage. However, for the first time in almost a decade, California is finally free of drought.

The most recent drought had dramatic dimensions and spread over a long period of approximately 7 years. However, things have changed today as the inhabitants of the state are surprised to see beautiful lakes and reservoirs full of water.

Thanks to the recent rains that fell in the area, the springs in northern California and the Sierra Nevada are full.

If you were a resident of this area, you would most likely celebrate that the overwhelming drought has come to an end. And there is no better way to do it than visiting one of the unusual water wonders of that state.

It is the “Glory Hole” of Lake Berryessa. This hole measures 22 meters in diameter and is located near the Monticello dam, 93 meters high. A place worth knowing, without a doubt.

The “Hole of the Globe”, thanks to its depth of 60 meters, prevents Lake Berryessa from overflowing, as it sends excess water to the Putah River. This is due to the unusual funnel shape the hole has, as the draining water forms a spectacular whirlpool.

Located in Napa, California, Lake Berryessa is the seventh largest artificial lake in the world. But like many others, this reservoir began to dry during the aforementioned drought.

Because of that, the famous “Glory Hole” was out of service for more than a decade. But now this particular whirlpool has returned with full force creating a spectacular phenomenon every time the lake’s water empties.

Best of all, thanks to the internet and drone technology, you can now see this phenomenon, because youtuber Evan K recorded beautiful images of the lake with its drone, recording the majesty that nature offers.
