The offer has come out on the social network Twitter and thousands of people have launched to opt for a “long stay” on this island in Ireland.

Blasket Islands Keep that name. They are the islands that have published an offer on Twitter that seeks two people (a couple or two friends) to live for free for a “long period” of time (at least six months) and will only have to manage a cafeteria.
They are a total of six rocks, the most important one barely exceeding 7 km2 and are located in the county of Kerry, Ireland, about five kilometers from the coast and absolutely exposed to the Atlantic Ocean and its bad weather. The local tourist office has published this offer that includes free food and accommodation from April 1, 2020 until October. That is, the times when the island receives more tourists.
There is NO Wifi and NO Hot Water
For those who are reluctant to an adventure without comfort, they should know that there is no wifi, electricity or hot water, but the island is “beautiful and idyllic,” according to the local RTE media. “It’s intense and hard, but it’s a unique position, ” said Alice Hayes, one of the people in charge of placing the ad. It’s about getting back to basics: fires, candles, stoves, wildlife and nature.
According to this medium, there are three cottages that can accommodate up to 21 people and the functions of the “new inhabitants” will have to be to welcome visitors, manage the cabins and run the cafeteria. “We use gas plates in the cabins and in the cafeteria. We have gas containers in the back . We know when the water boils with boilers that whistle above the plates, and we can also cook on the gas plates,” said Alice Hayes .
There is also a small wind turbine that generates enough electricity to charge a device. But only one. Ideal candidates must have a good level of fitness, good skills with people and be friendly , accessible and talkative. “No day is the same,” said Hayes.
