CAROLINA – The couple who died by drowning in the afternoon today when the bus they were travelling in fell into the water, at the end of Seville Street in the Vista Mar Marina urbanization, they have bee identified as William Pagán Sánchez, 86, and Carmen Lydia Maldonado Ventura, 76 years old.
Authorities reported that the white Mercedes Benz 2017 model bus fell into the water at about 1:40 p.m. and at about 3:00 p.m. Diver Unit personnel had rescued the bodies and transported them by a Speedboat of the Maritime Division of (FURA).
According to versions under investigation, the couple of retired residents of Vista Mar Marina had been in the administration office looking for a stamp for the identification of the bus. The woman came out and boarded the bus that took off quickly. The bus crashed into a fence and the vehicle fell into the water with its two occupants.
It has not been determined whether it was an accident, a voluntary action by the driver or a medical case. The case will be investigated by Highway Patrol agents. Prosecutor Ana Sofía Allende ordered the removal of the bodies.
