The US closely followed the naval maneuvers of the Russian Navy in the Arctic region, said the commander of the US Air Force in Europe and Africa, Jeffrey Lee Harrigian.
“We carefully monitor the exercises that the Russians performed in recent weeks,” Harrigian told reporters.
He noted that the US “will continue to monitor such activities in the Arctic.”
“The Arctic remains a region of strategic importance for all of us and it is necessary to maintain stability and guarantee freedom of navigation,” said the military, assuring that climbing in the region is unlikely.
Russia carried out large-scale naval exercises in the Baltic Sea from August 1 to 9 , in which more than 10,000 troops, 49 warships and 58 aircraft participated.
