The recording shows how a man throws a fish to the mammal, who is tired and does not flinch from human presence.
The inhabitants of Tilichiki, a village located on the Russian peninsula of Kamchatka, found a polar bear that was looking for food and that apparently had traveled about 700 kilometers from Chukotka to the place where it was filmed.
In the recording, obtained by the locals, it is observed how the animal leaves the water and walks through the snow. Also, in other images you can see how a man throws a fish to the mammal, which is tired and does not flinch from human presence.
“Due to climate change, the Arctic is warming up, therefore hunting conditions become less favorable,” Vladimir Chuprov, Greenpeace activist, told Euronews. As the ice is disappearing, ” the bears seek new forms of survival, ” I say, for example, where there are people, Chuprov added.
For their part, the local authorities announce their intention to catch the animal, sedate it and transfer it by helicopter to Chukotka.
