The Civil Guard has rescued five nautical miles off the coast of Cádiz, two crew members of a drug-trafficking vessel that was sinking and carrying 800 kilos of hashish, many of which were recovered floating in the water.

In a press release, the Civil Guard explains that this rescue took place within some investigations that began last July on a network of drug traffickers who were introducing 2,000 kilos of hashish a month in recreational boats through the Bay of Cádiz.

Within what they called “Operation ZETA”, the agents detected that in the middle of the same month of July the investigated organization was going to make a stash through the Bay of Cádiz, so they organized a device in which the Maritime Service participated, the Comandancia de Cádiz and OCON-SUR, the special group to combat drug trafficking on the Andalusian coast.

In the early afternoon, investigators detected a suspicious recreational boat, by heading and origin, in front of the Caleta beach in the capital of Cadiz.

When a Civil Guard Maritime vessel approached, investigators saw that the ship was sinking and that the two crew members were shrinking water five nautical miles offshore.

Two civil guards threw themselves into the water and rescued the two crew members from the shipwreck.

After putting them safe, the agents recovered the bundles of hashish that floated in the water.

Once at the port they found that they had collected 25 bales of water and that there were two more inside the boat, so that in total 27 bales were seized with 810 kilograms of hashish.

After this intervention the researchers completed the research on the network they were investigating and its members.

Thus they carried out a few days ago and simultaneously four records of homes in Cádiz, in which half a kilogram of cocaine and 6,000 euros in cash were located, and four other members of the network were arrested.
