The Italian Finance Agency and Customs Agency have seized in the port of Livorno 644 kilos of cocaine hidden in a shipment of coffee in a container transported by a ship from Algeciras.

It is the largest seizure of the last ten years in the port of Livorno. The cocaine was divided into 582 pills inside 23 bags in a container on a boat with the Portuguese flag.

The container had been sent by a company in Honduras from Puerto Cortés and was transhipped to another vessel in Moin (Costa Rica), bound for Barcelona. The destination of the container was a company in Madrid, where it never arrived.

The drug was hidden in bags marked with an X. Inside one of them was also found a copy of the stamps of the container, which would have been replaced after removing the drug, using the blind hook method.
