The Frigate “Blas de Lezo” Participates in the “Dynamic Manta” Exercise that will Take Place in the Mediterranean

The mission will take place from March 25 to 8, although the ship left on Friday.

Last February 15, the frigate “Blas de Lezo” left its base in the Military Arsenal of Ferrol to participate in the international exercise “Dynamic Manta” in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. These maneuvers, which are aimed at antisubmarine war, will have the participation of numerous units, both air and naval, belonging to the different countries that make up NATO. The person in charge of directing the exercise will be the Commander of the Nato Permanent Naval Group No. 2 (COMSNMG-2).

The “Blas de Lezo” belongs to the class “Álvaro de Bazán”. It is based in the Military Arsenal of Ferrol and has a staff of 205 people.

Other operations

For its part, the “Christopher Columbus”, which left its base in the Ferrolan Arsenal on January 28 to participate in the naval exercise “Fanal-19” of the French Marine Nationale in waters of the western Mediterranean, will reach house later this month.

During the mission, officers from both bodies worked together aboard the frigate, putting the anti-aircraft war planning team for the exercises, so they carried out tasks to ensure the safety and proper use of the airspace.

For its part, the “Méndez Núñez” also plans to arrive in a short time to Ferrol, after its initial period of integration in the C2X exercise on the east coast of the United States. The frigate will return to its base in Ferrol until the month of April, when it is planned to join the combat group for the deployment organized for the following months.

The Northern Third will host this Thursday the traditional ceremony of lowering of the flag organized by the Navy. On this occasion, exceptionally and on the occasion of the 482 anniversary of the creation of the Marine Corps, it will be held in the courtyard of the barracks of Our Lady of Dolores.

The act, open to the public, will begin at seven in the afternoon and will be chaired by the colonel, commander of the Third North, Juan Ruesta Botella.
