The patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia “Pytlivy” performs a set of measures to monitor the actions of the amphibious transport dock (dtd) of the US Navy “Fort McHenry”, said on Monday the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The ministry recalled that the US Navy ship is in the Black Sea from 21:00 Moscow time on January 6, 2019. “As of 9:30 Moscow time, Fort McHenry entered the Romanian port of Constanza,” the military department said.

The ship, reportedly carrying about 500 US Marines, is reported to have a dock chamber for five hovercraft transport boats intended for the landing of marines and military equipment.

Its displacement is 16.1 thousand tons, length – 190 meters. The ship is equipped with anti-aircraft artillery and rocket weapons.

The Fort McHenry is part of the US Navy amphibious assault group, the remaining ships of which are currently located in the Eastern Mediterranean, including the flagship of the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) aircraft carrier carrying amphibious assault ship and landing craft Arlington Doc (USS Arlington (LPD 24)).
