Ten river trams with floral names began to ply the Moscow River along two routes, according to the Mayor’s and the Moscow Government’s website on Wednesday.

“10 river trams started running across the Moscow River. They float daily on two routes: from the Ukraine Hotel or from Gorky Park to the Novospassky Bridge. Water transport will transport Muscovites and tourists until October, ”the message says.

River trams, each named after a flower, can be distinguished by their bright colour. For example, a yellow ship is called “Sunflower”, blue – “Cornflower”, and blue – “Forget-Me-Not.” The capacity of each river tram is 44 passenger seats.

River trams will become an integral part of the project of a new type of public transport in Moscow – water, which is scheduled to launch in 2020. The pilot route will run from Kiev railway station to Nizhny Mnevniki, linking the Moscow-City business center, city parks and Kiev railway station.

Berths are located near the stations of the Moscow Metro, the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), as well as stops for ground transportation. The fare will be paid according to city tariffs, in particular the “Troika” card.
