Pirates on Monday attacked a South Korean cargo ship in the South China Sea, northeast of Singapore, leaving two people slightly injured, the South Korean Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans said.

The CK BlueBell cargo ship was attacked by seven pirates entering the Singapore Strait. They robbed them of $10,000, as well as the personal belongings of the crew members, including mobile phones, clothes and shoes.

The ship’s captain and one more sailor suffered minor injuries.

The ship, whose crew consists of four South Korean citizens and 18 Indonesians, continued the journey after the pirates had abandoned it.

South Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries informed other boats in the area about the incident so they remain vigilant.
