India And Singapore Carry Out Naval Exercise In South China Sea

New Delhi, May 20. The navies of India and Singapore participate today in the Simbex maritime exercise, in the disputed South China Sea, in order to improve maritime cooperation and strengthen ties of friendship between the two countries.

In a statement in New Delhi, the Indian Navy said that several maritime combat tests will be conducted during the exercise, such as aerial or surface shooting, advanced air tracking, coordinated targeting and tactical exercises on the surface or aerial scenarios.

The Indian Navy said INS naval ships Kolkata and INS Shakti are participating in the bilateral naval exercise, along with the long-range maritime patrol plane Poseidon-8I, the All India Radio station said.

The Singapore side is represented by the RSN Steadfast and Valiant ships, and Fokker-50 and F-16 maritime fighters.
