The Navy seized five kilos of cocaine in a Chinese flag vessel that arrived at the port of Montevideo from Brazil.
The drug was in the helm cabin of the MSC Agadir container ship that had docked at pier 8 of the Port of Montevideo.
The ship arrived this Tuesday morning and the seizure occurred around noon, after the ship’s own captain reported a suspicious package on board.
Navy personnel carried out the inspection of the vessel and detected the drug. The investigation was carried out by the prosecutor of Narcotic Drugs of the 2nd shift, Stella Llorente.
The crew were investigated and released.
