The vessel, without a flag, left Brazil and the receivers are Galician. The investigation of a court in Vigo and Greco is still open and for now there are no more detainees than the crew.

National Police agents intercepted a boat loaded with 1,500 kilos of cocaine as part of a joint operation with the British NCA, the French Customs, the Judicial Police of Portugal and the Federal Police of Brazil. The vessel, a fishing boat without a flag, left Brazil for Spain and was destined for the national and European markets. The fishing vessel was assaulted on the high seas by GEO agents, with the collaboration of the Spanish Navy and the Air Force. The investigation began last January.

The agents were aware of the existence of a South American drug trafficking organization based in Spain that was preparing to send and receive a large consignment of cocaine. In the course of this investigation and as a result of the daily collaboration maintained with the main anti-drug agencies, coincidences were detected between operational information from several countries. Since then, the National Police has led the coordination of international research. At the beginning of April, the mother ship that transported the drug from South America to Spain was detected, so the collaboration of the Spanish Navy and its Meteor Maritime Action Ship was requested, embarking on it, in addition to its crew, a GEO crew and research agents.

A few days ago, the fishing vessel was located and approached by the agents. It was a fishing boat without a flag with seven people on board who were arrested. In a first safety inspection 50 bags of 30 kilograms each were intervened, distributed in five pallets, with an approximate weight of 1,500 kilograms.

The ship has been towed to the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria where a more detailed record will be carried out. The investigation, judicialized in the Court number 4 of Vigo, remains open and for now there were no more detainees than the crew of the ship, formed by seven foreigners, whose entry into prison was consummated upon arrival in port and after being interrogated by Skype in high seas. The police part is the responsibility of the Response Group against Organized Crime (Greco) in Galicia.
