On August 4, 2018 in Cannes, France, a diver was snorkeling near the ocean floor on the sandy part and ended up witnessing something very random. He placed the camera down and caught a sultan fish, also known as it’s scientific name Leptobarbus hoevenii, popping up out of the sand then taking off. With the submission of the video he added in explanation.
“During a snorkeling morning I mention a Rason fish staying along posidonias before diving into the sand,, I was curious and wanted to see if he would come up. I fixed my sport camera in front of the place and waited from the surface when the ‘Sultan of the sea’ unburies himself.’
What the fish was doing down there? No clue. What was down there? No clue. The sultan literally came from nowhere and just took off casually. An odd sighting but a very cool event to capture on camera. Video down below.
