When conducting research on food products, specialists from the Primorsk Interregional Veterinary Laboratory of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration identified bacteria of the E. coli group in a large batch of cooked and frozen shrimp from the Sakhalin Region. This is a violation of the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union “On the safety of fish and fish products.”
Samples for the study were selected by the state inspector of the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the Primorsky Krai and the Sakhalin Region at a wholesale and retail base in Vladivostok.
As a result of laboratory tests in a sample taken from a batch of cooked and frozen shrimp with a total weight of 20 tons from a producer in the Sakhalin Region, bacteria of the E. coli group were detected.
Exceeding the standard indicator may indicate a violation of the rules and technological regimes of production, timing and temperature regimes of storage, transportation and sales of products.
After defrosting such products, E. coli bacteria are actively developing, which can lead to food poisoning.
After receiving the results of the research, information about the detections was entered into the state information system in the field of veterinary medicine “Vesta”, as well as into the state information system of early warning in the field of veterinary medicine “Cyrano”, and also brought to the manufacturer. Further, the information was received by the Central Office and the territorial departments of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the veterinary department of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and other interested departments.
In addition, the information was communicated to the manufacturer and at the sampling site to prevent the sale of unsafe products.
