Yakov Frenklaj, resident in Moscow, won this year’s Baikal ice skating marathon, the huge Siberian lake, traveling 205 kilometers in 7 hours and 56 minutes and thus establishing a new record in this discipline, surpassing the previous minimum in more Two hours.
Dozens of participants from Russia, Germany, Switzerland and the United States competed during the last weekend in the annual ‘ Ice Storm ‘ marathon , which in addition to skaters with ski sticks includes cyclists, all of them on the icy waters.
In this last discipline a cyclist from Irkutsk (Russia), Iliá Martínov, distinguished himself with 8 hours 31 minutes.
