Two Killed When Bus Falls from a Bridge to a River in China

At least two people have been killed after a bus sank Sunday morning on the Yangtze River after falling from a bridge in Chongqing Township (southwest China), according to state broadcaster CCTV.

According to local police, the bus crashed with a car before plunging into the Yangtze, China’s longest river, around 10:00 local time (02:00 GMT) at the height of the Wanzhou district in Chongqing, picks up the Xinhua agency.

The state chain adds that the local police and the maritime authorities have ordered that all efforts be made to rescue the possible survivors, although the number of passengers travelling on board the bus is still unknown.

The same source added that an investigation has been opened to clarify the cause of the accident.
