A group of marine scientists recorded at 3,000 meters depth a strange ‘ghost’ creature with the ears of Dumbo, the Disney elephant.
It is the Grimpoteuthis, an octopus with fins very similar to the ears of the animated character, which was seen in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of California.
The species belonging to this genus inhabit the extreme marine depths, according to the expedition of the EVNautilus project.
The specialists revealed that the animal recorded by the camera of a submarine measured an approximate of 60 centimetres in length when its average size is between 20 and 30 centimetres.
A few days after this surprising discovery, the expedition sighted in the underwater rocks a colony of more than a thousand octopuses of the species Muusoctopus robustus protecting its eggs.
