They hold five people in possession of more than one ton of cocaine.
In two different actions, elements of the Navy-Navy Secretariat of Mexico seized fuel and alleged drugs aboard two smaller vessels, and five people were detained off the coast of Guerrero, the agency said in a statement.
51 drums with approximately, with 2 thousand 500 liters of gasoline that were transported in a smaller vessel and that presumably would be used to replenish other ships that carry out illicit activities, were insured southwest of Acapulco Guerrero, when naval personnel assigned to the Sixth Region Naval with support of an aircraft of the Mexican Navy during a surveillance tour. The Navy reported that the vessel had no crew, no propulsion equipment, and a waterway that caused it to sink, so in coordination, with an Oceanic Patrol, the operation was carried out.
In a second action, 5 people of Mexican nationality aboard a “Go fast” type vessel with three high-powered outboards, were stopped by naval personnel 90 nautical miles (165 kilometres) east of the port of Acapulco, Warrior. According to the Secretariat of Navy-Navy of Mexico, these people have secured 67 packages weighing more than one ton, containing a white powder with characteristics similar to cocaine.
After a high-speed chase, naval personnel managed the arrest of the 5 people and the securing of the illicit cargo, without firing any shots with firearms, the federal agency said.
The detainees, the boat, the fuel and the illicit cargo insured will be placed at the disposal of the Agent of the Public Ministry of the Federation of the city and port of Acapulco.
