A patrol of the Service of Protection of the Nature (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard intervened on April 9 a boat in the port of Badalona (Barcelona) that had possession of 41,46 kilograms of chanquete, without having the authorization for the capture of this species.
“As a result, a record was issued for the alleged commission of different administrative infractions, in addition to confiscation of the fish and the net used for their capture, also illegal,” the Civil Guard has informed through a statement.
The agents of the SEPRONA of Premià de Mar have had the support of fisheries inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment during the regular inspection that has detected in the port of Badalona this boat that was not registered.
The Civil Guard has explained that the confiscated fish has been delivered to a charity centre in Barcelona for its use for social purposes.
“In all the Catalan coast are registered 24 vessels that are the only ones that have the corresponding specific authorization for fishing of this species,” said the police.
