As reported, a fire occurred in the engine room of the vessel. According to the head of the Kaliningrad Sea Rescue Coordination Center, Andrey Permyakov, the fire has been eliminated, no one was hurt.

Help for the injured ferry is provided by rescuers from Lithuania and Russia. On it were 335 people, of which the crew – 37. Passengers and part of the crew were evacuated.

The ferry route Klaipeda-Sweden drifts 40 nautical miles from Cape Taran. The rescue operation involved two tugboats and a Lithuanian helicopter, as well as ships of the border guard and the Baltic Fleet. Also, rescue helicopter EMERCOM was sent to the place of emergency.
