Shocking Images of People Seeking Refuge In The Sea After the Fires in Greece

The snapshots and recordings have gone around the world, showing the terrible situation that the inhabitants of Mati, a coastal area near Athens, are living.

After seven days of the most brutal fires in their history, citizens of Greece continue to seek help from rescue teams. The losses recorded 91 dead, 25 people missing and 3505 homes affected.

Through social networks, Elia Kallia, a witness of the tragic moment through which the Greek people pass, shared images and videos that show how the victims sought refuge in the sea.

Shocking snapshots and recordings have gone around the world, evidencing the terrible situation that the inhabitants of  Mati,  a coastal area near Athens, are living.

Dozens of people together in the sea, hugging each other and covering themselves with toxic smoke, try to get as far away as possible from the flames.

“We live hell and death, share this so that people can try to find their loved ones,” Kallia wrote in the post that has been shared by thousands of Facebook users.
