Russian Fleet Ships Will Complete Missions in the Asia-Pacific Region

A squadron of the Russian Pacific Fleet sailed from Vladivostok to carry out missions in the Asia-Pacific region, said the spokesman of this fleet, Nikolai Voskresenski.

“The expedition of the group of warships is scheduled to last more than three months,” Voskresenski told reporters.

He added that during this period “the ships of the Pacific Fleet will carry out individual exercises and training, participate in a series of events scheduled within the framework of the Ministry of Defense’s international military cooperation program, including the Indian-Russian bilateral naval maneuvers Indra Navy 2018, they will also visit several foreign ports. ”

The group headed by the deputy commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet, Eduard Mikhailov, is integrated by the Variaz missile cruiser, the anti-submarine frigate Admiral Panteleev and the tanker Boris Butoma.

The first Russian-Indian maneuvers were carried out in May 2003, two years later they received the name Indra.
