A group of fishermen were surprised to see a huge container ship sailing 11 kilometres from the village Thama Seitta. When the boat ran aground on the coast of Thongwa Township, they discovered that it was not carrying cargo and that no one was manning it.
The huge ship, 177 meters long and 28 meters wide, was stopped at the coast for two days. Noting that there was no movement on deck, police and military approached him to investigate it thoroughly.
This 26.5-ton vessel was working perfectly, but there was no person on board. According to the report of U Aung Kyaw Linn, secretary general of the Independent Federation of Sea Navigators in Burma, the vessel was in good condition and said it had recently been abandoned.
The researchers used the name the boat had painted (Sam Ratulangi PB 1600) to review the records of lost ships. They discovered that it was built in 2001, sailed with Indonesian insignia and that it had been lost in the South China Sea since 2009.
But although they managed to know their origin, the reasons for their abandonment and the whereabouts of the crew remain a mystery …
