Singaporean authorities reported uncovering massive international oil theft scheme, from Shell’s biggest refinery. 20 people were arrested, at least 1 tanker and millions of dollars in cash seized.
14 people were already indicted, among them 11 Singaporean nationalities and 3 Vietnamese nationalities. 8 of them were employees of Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell Plc. 1 was working for Intertek Group plc – multinational inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
Three tankers were mentioned as being engaged in criminal activities, one being Singapore-flagged and two being Panama-flagged, including 17,500-ton Vietnamese Prime Shipping tanker. As of Jan 21, both Singaporean and Vietnamese tankers were anchored at Singapore Anchorage.
