Internet services in Vietnam are still partially affected today due to a break in the submarine cable Asia-America Gateway (AAG), which connects Southeast Asia with the United States.
Domestic providers of Internet services said that the failure reduced the transfer capacity and access to the network of networks and that immediate backup plans were initiated to solve the problem, but they did not clarify how long it will take to recover the connection.
With about 20 thousand kilometres in length, the AGG is one of the four intercontinental Internet cable systems used by the main Vietnamese suppliers (FPT Telecom, VNPT, Viettel and SPT).
With an investment of 500 million dollars, the network became operational in 2009. Since then it has broken down several times, three of them this year counting the current one.
