Coastguards from Vietnam and India Carry out the First Joint Exercise

Fighters from the Vietnam Maritime Police and the Indian Coast Guard conducted their first joint exercise in Bengal Bay, off the coast of Chennai in the Tamil Nadu state, the Ministry of Defense said.

The ship 8001 of Hanoi participated in the act the previous day, while New Delhi mobilized three patrol boats, two airplanes and a boat of the Institute of Oceanographic Technology.

The objective of the maneuver is to improve the capacity to coordinate rescue activities at sea, by creating the hypothetical scenario of piracy of an oil carrier.

The 8001 ship of the Zone 3 Command of the Maritime Police of Vietnam makes its first visit to India, in response to an invitation from Rear Admiral Paramesh, commander of the Eastern Area of the Coast Guard.
