Cessna 210 collapses in the Sea of Cortez

A Cessna 210  license plate XB-LBA suffered an incident when it made a flight between the airports of Loreto and La Paz BCS, with six occupants on board including the PAN candidate to the Senate for Baja California Sur, Francisco Pelayo Covarrubias.

According to some local media, the aircraft landed a little more than 30 nautical miles northeast of the La Paz Airport, BCS. All the occupants were rescued by personnel of the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), through a deployment of a Sikorsky helicopter UH- 60 Black Hawk, Beechcraft King Air and a Defender FC-33 boat, in addition to a maritime patrol.

Through a statement, the Secretariat of Navy – Navy of Mexico, published:

“Subsequently, the Surface and Air Units deployed located and rescued 6 people alive, who were given first aid by Naval Health personnel and then transferred to the Naval Hospital of this town for their specialized medical attention. It is important to note that with the application of the “Search and Rescue SAR Plan”, the Navy Secretariat of Mexico, carries out activities to preserve human life at sea through the search, detection, evacuation, first aid and transfer of people in any emergency situation at sea.”

At the moment the causes that originated the incident to the Cessna 210 are not known, since as the public the SEMAR, assured that the aircraft suffered from a collapse. For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics has not published in this regard.

The accident registered this June 26, occurs exactly one week after another Cessna 182 became yellow in the Sea of Cortez and was located by a group of pilots who, with their own aircraft that provide civil services, located the survivors and launched rafts while SEMAR personnel arrived.
