Authorities maintain a search and rescue operation in Long Beach, Long Island after an eight-year-old boy was reported missing around 6:00 pm after being dragged by the waves.
The boy swam with his 11-year-old brother when they experienced difficulties offshore, so they decided to return to shore, according to authorities.
When the older child turned around, he noticed that his brother had disappeared, so when he reached the shore he immediately asked for help.
The Telemundo 47 helicopter captured a rescue scene at Ocean Beach Park. In the images, you can see the beach full of lifeguards and police vehicles.
Rescuers extended the search in boats and water scooters.
A police helicopter also responded to the emergency in search of the small one.
The authorities said that, with the passing of hours, the chances of the child being found alive are reduced.
