An F15 Airplane of the United States Fell Into The Sea

It happened close to the Japanese base of Okinawa. The pilot managed to save himself.

An F-15 military aircraft of the United States Navy rushed into the sea, near the Japanese island of Okinawa, in the southeast of the archipelago.

The incident, which involved a fighter plane belonging to the Kadena military base, occurred at about 6.40 local time, on Monday, 80 kilometres south of the capital, Naha. The Tokyo government reported that the pilot was rescued by a helicopter from the Japanese self-defence forces.

The island of Okinawa is home to more than half of the 50,000 US troops in Japan, and the last incident – in all likelihood – will only feed the tensions already present between the government authority and the local population, contrary to the presence of troops on the island due to numerous accidents, environmental impact and noise pollution caused by the US contingent.

Another US F-15 military plane crashed in front of Okinawa in May 2013. According to local press, authorities will open an investigation to learn the reasons for the fall.
