A former US Marine, William Clyde Allen III, 39, has been arrested in Utah (west) after confessing to sending packets with ricin to President Donald Trump and the Pentagon.

The veteran would have sent the packages to Trump and to the director of the Federal Police (FBI), Christopher Wray, as well as to the Pentagon chief, James Mattis , and to the head of naval operations John Richardson, according to judicial sources, indicating that this would have deposited the packages in the mail last September 24.

US federal authorities on Tuesday reported the discovery of several packages suspected of containing ricin, a highly toxic substance, one aimed at Trump, and at least two others to senior Pentagon officials. The Secret Service said in a statement that a facility outside the White House received a “suspect envelope” from Trump on Monday.

Also on Monday were several packages suspected of containing the substance at the US Department of Defense post office facility, which has been turned over to the FBI.
