Authorities in Costa Rica and the United States seized 240 kilos of cocaine and detained two Costa Ricans, one Guatemalan and two Colombians, in a joint operation carried out in Panamanian waters, an official source reported today.
The Costa Rican Ministry of Public Security said on Tuesday that the intercepted vessel was named “Tarpón” and was headed by a Costa Rican named as Santamaría.
The authorities also detained another Costa Rican, a Guatemalan and two Colombians, but their identities are under police verification, according to official information.
The boat had sailed days ago from the town of Golfito, in the province of Puntarenas (South Pacific).
The authorities confirmed that the confiscation amounts to a total of 240 kilos of cocaine.
