Offshore provider Wood Group was awarded with 5-year technical support services (TSS) contract by Sakhalin Energy for project Sakhalin-2. The agreement has two 1-year extension options and will be delivered by the company’s engineering team based in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island. Wood Group is providing engineering and construction support to offshore and onshore assets on Sakhalin Island for more than a decade, but the new contract adds brownfield drilling upgrade services to the project, improving the relationship between Wood Group and Sakhalin Energy and Russian Design Institute (RDI), Gasproektengineering AOJSC (GPE).
“We have a 10 year relationship working with Sakhalin Energy on Sakhalin Island”, said the CEO of Wood Group Asset Life Cycle Solutions business in the eastern region, Dave Stewart. “This is an exciting and strategically important relationship for the future and one which underlines our ongoing commitment to Russian national content and development. We look forward to working in close collaboration with GPE on the safe and successful delivery of this contract”, added he.
Sakhalin Energy Investment Company is a consortium for developing the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project with corporate head office in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The chief executive officer is Roman Dashkov. The company’s principal activities are the production and export of crude oil (since 1999) and liquefied natural gas (from 2009). Sakhalin Energy develops the Piltun-Astokhskoye and the Lunskoye oil and gas fields, known as the Sakhalin-II project, in the Sea of Okhotsk, offshore Sakhalin island in the Russian Far East.
