Tank Barge Grounded at Unkel 

On Dec 20, 2017, at 7.55 p.m. the “TMS Max” 2450 dwt (MMSI-No.: 211664590), ran onto the Rhine shore at Unkel, river km 637. The unloaded ship, which had been enroute from Mannheim to Strasbourg, suffered damage to propulsion and rudders so that it was unable to continue the voyage. The water police Andernach detained the ship.

In the night hours it was taken alongside by another barge and pulled to the Meiderich Shipyard in Duisburg, where it docked on Dec 21 at 11.15 a.m. The damage was estimated to be around 150.000 – 200.000 Euro. TMS Max
