Oil leaks at water area of the Russian port of Yalta along the Berth No 3 from the mouth of the Bystraya River. The oil spot has size of 50.00 x 15.00 m and according to preliminary information from the local authorities came from the river. The hazmat teams were informed about the water pollution and took immediate actions to eliminate the oil spill. The area was surrounded by oil booms and at the scene was deployed water cleansing equipment. The traffic in the area is closed until elimination of the pollution, which affected the operation of Yalta port.
The local authorities initiated investigation for the root cause of the accident. It is not yet know what caused the oil leak and if it came from industrial machinery or merchant ship.
According to local authorities and environment experts the pollution will not cause any damage to the local flora and fauna.
