Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order providing for the transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad region, in particular, the allocation of three ferries to the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk line, the official website of the Russian government said on Saturday.
“Approve the attached plan to ensure the transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad region, aimed at the development of ferry communication,” the document of June 13, 2017 No. 1227-р says.
The decree provides, among other things, the preparation of a directive by the government of the Russian Federation on determining the position of Russian representatives on the board of directors of JSC Russian Railways on participation in a special project company for the implementation of the project for the construction and operation of three ferries for the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk railroad crossing.
In addition, a decision was made on the participation of Russian Railways in a special project company with an equity participation of not less than 25 percent plus 1 share. Responsible executors are defined by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Rosimushchestvo and OJSC “Russian Railways”. It is planned to introduce amendments to the state program of the Russian Federation “Social and economic development of the Kaliningrad region until 2020, including the inclusion of measures for the construction of ferries.
