General cargo ship Osa contacted with berth at port of Kaliningrad

Osa shipThe general cargo ship Osa contacted with berth at port of Kaliningrad in Russia. The vessel was maneuvering to berth in the port with pilot on board, but slightly contacted with her fore part with the gangway on piers located near waterway, due to fault of pilot’s orders. There were no injured people and no reported damages or breaches of the cargo vessel during the accident, as only the metal gangway was damaged. After the accident was reported to the local authorities, the vessel successfully berthed at the pier, where was inspected by the Port State Control. It was estimated that there were no deficiencies on board and the ship moved to Berth No.16 of the port for unloading.

According to the shipowner the ship’s machinery was fully operational during the incident, which happened due to mistake of the pilot. On berthing there was an PSC inspection proved did not had any deficiencies and all machinery devices worked properly. Vessel is discharged and got the permission to leave the port.

The general cargo ship Osa (IMO: 8420086) has overall length of 84.00 m, moulded beam of 11.00 m and maximum draft of 3.70 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 2,507 DWT and the gross tonnage is 1,782 GRT. The freighter was built in 1985 by Detlef Hegemann Rolandwerft in their shipyard in Berne, Germany. The vessel is operating by the flag of Cyprus and owned by Wind Shipping APS.
