General cargo ship Daisy ran aground in Azov

DaisyThe general cargo ship Daisy ran aground at Azov port anchorage near buoy 128. The vessel left the shipping way and stock into sandy shallow without suffering damages and breaches. The accident was reported to SMCC Taman and at the scene of the grounding was sent the tugboat Portovy-22, which assisted with refloating of the freighter. Ity was estimated that the ship did not suffered underwater breaches and there was no oil leak. The general cargo ship Daisy was inspected and allowed to resume voyage to Rostov-on-Don. During the accident the weather was calm with fog and little wind.

The local authorities initiated investigation for the root cause of the accident. During grounding there were no reported pollution and no injuries, according to the report of Rosmorrechflot.

The general cargo ship Daisy (IMO: 8033120) has overall length of 70.00 m, moulded beam of 10.00 m and maximum draft of 3.00 m. The deadweight of the freighter is 3,135 DWT and the gross tonnage is 2,466 GRT. The ship was built in 1981 by Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia and operate under the flag of Congo.
