Coast Guard of Saudi Arabia opened fire on Iranian vessels

In the Persian Gulf, the coast guard of Saudi Arabia opened fire on two Iranian fishing vessels. As a result of the incident, one person was killed, the Iranian television channel Press TV reported.Saudi Arabia attack

Iranian fishermen deviated from the course due to unrest at sea. The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Iran, Mejid Aka-Babai, stressed that the Saudi border guards opened fire without clarifying the situation.

Iran’s Interior Ministry also noted that they are investigating whether the fishermen actually entered the territorial waters of Saudi Arabia.

 

Saudi Arabia and Iran have repeatedly put forward mutual claims about interference in internal affairs and support for extremists. So, on June 7, after the terrorist attack in Tehran, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accused the Saudi authorities of involvement in the attack. In April 2016, the authorities of Saudi Arabia banned Iranian tankers from entering their ports and limiting their access to their territorial waters.
