Tanker Tanja Deymann 1 allided bridge on Moselle river in Luxembourg

Tanja Deymann 1The river tanker Tanja Deymann 1 allided with middle arch of the road bridge on Moselle river near village of Schweich, Luxembourg. The tanker barge left the shipping way and the recommended course, due to strong current and human mistake, colliding with the bridge arch and suffering serious damages. The wheelhouse of the tanker was complete demolished. The captain and his wife were on the bridge during the accident, but found a shelter behind the faucets and did not suffered serious injuries. The accident was reported to the local authorities and the barge Tanja Deymann 1 was taken under tow and anchored near the collision site. The investigation for the root cause of the allision is under investigation.

There is no report about water pollution. The tanker was detained until special survey to 0ensure stability and further investigation. The traffic in the river was not disturbed and the road bridge was not damaged.

According to preliminary estimated the damages caused by allision of river tanker Tanja Deymann 1 amount to approximately 100,000 EUR.
