Solstad Offshore was awarded by BP with contract for towing and installation of Glen Lyon FPSO. The agreement is for 220 days plus options and includes towing of the FPSO from Haugesund to its final location in West of Shetland. The towing of the giant FPSO will be held by three AHTS vessels of Solstad Offshore – Normand Ranger, Normand Progress and Normand Prosper, as well as chartering of another one towing vessel. The second stage of the contract is for installation of Glen Lyon FPSO, in which will be employed Normand Prosper and Normand Ranger. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but work commenced late last month.
The 270 meters long FPSO was docked in Aibel Haugesund for clarification since April and this is the final stage before put into operation for BP Schiehallion field.
Solstad Offshore is a Norwegian offshore service and supply shipping company, which operates 50 vessels, including 19 construction service vessels, 22 anchor handling tug supply vessels and 9 platform supply vessels. The company is based in Karmoy, but also has offices in Aberdeen, Rio de Janeiro, Perth and Singapore.
