Product tanker Sea HorizonThe product tanker Sea Horizon grounded in Western Scheldt abeam off Borssele, Netherlands. The ship was processing to the Belgium port Antwerp, carrying 38000 tons of gasoline on board. the grounding happened in sandbank shallow and did not caused breaches and any oil leaks. The ship was refloated by assistance of two tugs and towed to outer anchorage for further inspection and special survey. The product tanker Sea Horizon remained anchored off Borssele during the day, until all the further inspections are passes. Fortunately during the accident there were no injured poeple and no water pollution.

The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the grounding. The reason for grounding was engine failure, but vessel succeeded to reduce speed and grounded with dead slow ahead speed. There were no underwater damages and product tanker will resume operations with small delay.

The product tanker Sea Horizon (IMO: 9258026) has overall length of 183.00 m, moulded beam of 32.00 m and maximum draft of 11.40 m. The deadweight of the ship is 47,149 DWT and the gross tonnage is 28,529 GRT. The cargo vessel was built in 2003 by Onomichi Shipyard in Japan. The owner and operator of the product tanker is Greek company Sea World Management and Trading. During grounding the ship was en route from Port Neches, Usa to Antwerp, Belgium.
