Product tanker FT Foce collided with moored LPG tanker Happy Eagle at Ceuta

Tankers accident CeutaThe product tanker FT Foce collided with moored LPG tanker Happy Eagle at Ceuta, Spain. The accident happened during maneuvering of product tanker FT Foce for leaving the port, which lost propulsion power after engine failure. The vessel stuck with her bow the stern of the moored LPG tanker Happy Eagle. Fortunately, the collision happened and slow speed and the both ships remained afloat, suffering only dents, damaged railings and small breached above the waterline. The product tanker FT Foce was secured by harbor tugs and berthed for repairs and safety inspection. The moored LPG tanker Happy Eagle was inspected and released to resume cargo handling operations.

The accident is under investigation by the local authorities, but there were no leaks or injured people. The both ships remained seaworthy and afloat without water ingress.

The product tanker FT Foce (IMO: 9447237) has overall length of 107.30 m, moulded beam of 15.80 m and maximum draft of 5.50 m. The deadweight of the ship is 6,090 DWT and the gross tonnage is 3,999 GRT. The product tanker was built in 2008 by Torgem Shipbuilding Industry and Trade in Istanbul, Turkey. The ship is operating under the flag of Malta and managed by Italian company Furtrans Tanker and Shipmanagement.

The LPG tanker Happy Eagle (IMO: 9040170) has overall length of 99.00 m, moulded beam of 15.00 m and maximum draft of 5.00 m. The deadweight of the ship is 4,512 DWT and the gross tonnage is 3,733 GRT. The vessel was built in 1993 by Barkmeijer Stroobos shipyard in Netherlands. The vessel is operating under the flag of UK and manager by BSM UK.
