Luxury yacht Moon fireThe luxury yacht Moon caught fire at Al Hamra Marina in Ras Al Khaimah north of Dubai, UAE. The vessel was docked at the marine, when fire erupted at the bridge area and spread to the whole upper deck. The accident was reported to local authorities and yacht was towed to the anchorage to ensure safety of the marina and other yachts. The crew was unable to get control ofver the flames and at the scene were dispatched firefighting teams and tugs. After more than an hour the fire was completely extinguished and the yacht was rescued, but damages were sufficient. There were no reported injuries and casualties during the accident. The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way.

The crew and passengers were evacuated from the yacht immediately after reporting the fire. The tugs towed and secured the vessel at the anchorage outside the marina to ensure safety of other yachts and prevent spreading of the fire to other boats. The size of damages are not yet assessed.

The luxury yacht Moon has overall length of 35.00 m, moulded beam of 5.00 m and maximum draft of 2.50 m. The yacht has has a wooden hull and was built in 2000 by Turkish shipyard Eser Yat.
